About Houston UASI
The UASI program requires high threat urban areas to engage a multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary team to assess local capabilities and develop a common strategy for improving their capacity to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from catastrophic events.
Geographic Context
The Houston Urban Area is comprised of the City of Houston and five counties: Harris, Montgomery, Fort Bend, Brazoria and Galveston.
Urban Area Working Group
Local implementation of the UASI program is governed by a working group comprised of representative of all of the aforementioned jurisdictions. It also included representatives from the Port of Houston and METRO. The Working Group has established a number of committees who work to address the area's priority needs and gaps within specific areas. The committees include:
